The International Research Training Group “Diversity” congratulates its faculty member Wolfgang Klooß to this highly prestigious distinction. The Royal Society of Canada recognizes scholarly excellence and intellectual leadership benefitting Canada and the world. The President of the Royal Society of Canada, Chad Gaffield, emphasized in his October 2019 message, that “Canada and the world are facing many challenges and opportunities, many of which are deeply complex and intertwined. We need everyone’s involvement, and in particular the talented and creative minds of the Royal Society of Canada to cooperate, move forward and help find solutions for the future”. We are proud that Wolfgang Klooß’ scholarly work and his contributions to Canadian Studies have been acknowledged as contributing to this mandate of the RSC. He is the first German scholar being awarded with this highest Canadian scholarly distinction.

To celebrate his election as Distinguished International Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, Wolfgang Klooß will give a public lecture entitled: “The Canadian West in an Era of Crisis (1919-1935): Labour, Class, Politics, and Rhetoric in Historiography and Prairie Fiction”. The event will take place on December 5, 2019 at Palais Walderdorff, Domfreihof 1B, Trier at 6 pm.
